past, present and future of the web
In web 1.0 the web not very user friendly, the Internet was used as a tool to get information and not to insert information. It was only updated and used by professionals. Links and hyperlinks started in web 1.0. Users or consumers were only able to view information, there was never a time in web 1.0 that users were able to insert their own information’s.
Web 2.0 is a lot more user friendly, it has been updated in a way that any one can use the technology. Websites such a youtube, blogs and facebook started on web 2.0 because of the ease of the technology, every one could have a major say in the internet and how they use it. You can easily look at web 2.0 as a information sharing database and collaboration on the world wide web. Users are able to collaborate with each other in social medias in a virtual community. When looking at 2.0 there is a common misconception when looking at the fact that technology did not change as much as people believed it did to start web 2.0 but that how the technology adapted to be more user friendly.
The shift from web 1.0 to web 2.0 can be seen as a result of the technology, including technology like flash and browsers exc. You can also use the result of the change to web 2.0 based on the users behavior toward the world wide web. When using web 1.0 users were always concerned about safety, and privacy online that is became a very use problem for web users. It resulted in a one way flow of information through websites that were only read only. During web 2.0 safety is not much of a concern because there is more user generated content which makes the users feel more comfortable.
When thinking about web 3.0 there is a promise of not only new technology but better technology. With better and faster processing speeds while being able to not only add to the Internet but interact to an even further extent then what we are already doing. In my opinion I believe that face time, such as found on cell phones currently are the beginning of web 3.0 where there may not only be text on the internet to interact but a more 3-D look at people and their opinions and ideas. For example, virtual worlds instead on social media sites. Virtual libraries. I think an aspect of web 3.0 will mean that in the future, text books may be a thing of the past, and only e-readers will be a way to view and learn from the text books for kids in school.
As for journalists in the new web 3.0 era I think that the term journalists will be an old term used for those who use to write for publications. I see print publications quickly becoming a thing of the past
and that soon there may not be any more print publications around. In our web 2.0 era anyone can use the term as a journalist, but how many will be employed by a magazine or news paper. Even now, newspapers are laying people off as a we speak and only keeping the bare minimum of journalists on staff to get the paper out. People are not interested anymore in a daily news paper, why should they be if all the information they need is right at their finger tips the moment that it happens? I think that with web 3.0 journalists will not longer be a career but a hobby. People who consider themselves as a journalists, I feel will not get paid how one should. Blogs only get so much attention and they are a dime a dozen.
United States vs. American Library Association
Argument: Miami public school fought back the replacing of a set of books based on the fact that it was unconstitutional to deprive the children of reading those books or any other that the federal government deems unworthy.
District court failed to give sufficient weight to the well-established principle that public school boards have broad discretion in carrying out their educational functions.
District court failed to give any explanation while establishing principles that public school board have any discretion in carrying out education functions.
Day to day functions in educating in public schools are the state and local government because they are best to prepare students.
Web Design
Writing Styles: In the printed version, the article is the pyramid where the less important information is the introduction and more crucial information near the end.
In online they have the inverted pyramid to catch the readers attention first with the most important information.
Side bars: There is not much use of side bars, the article online is short but there are a good number on links to the rest of the alestle.
Auctionable? No
Links? It has no links to more information on the story
Titles: Yes the have different titles, I think it to so that you read both articles if you are interested in the topic.
length: The print article is shorted than the one online. I find that odd becasue usualy you get more information online.
SPC 313 is new show going to trump Idol?
New show “the voice” is going to be airing later in the month. The judges are Christina Agulara, Silo, Adam Lavegin and Blake Shelton will be faced with their backs to the stage, while participants sing behind them. If the super stars will listen to them sing with out being able to see them, if they like what they hear, they push a button and turn around – Each super star is choosing a team to mentor and coach and over the season will eliminate the weakest one until there is one left.
Will this show trump Idol? With the new judges and not a very high public opinion about the show now. This show might just slide in for a crowd pleaser. The fact that the judges mentor average people to turn them into the next sensation might make a Cinderella complex to those who wish to be a super star.
SPC 313 – “I (heart) boobies” bracelet banned in schools
A middle school in Philadelphia banned the brest cancer awareness rubber bracelet that say “I (heart) boobies!!” by the Keep A Breast Foundation to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. The ban resulted in two girls being suspended due to disruption, defiance and disrespect.
Easton Area Middle School banned the bracelets because they called them “sexually charged double entendre.” The school stated that the bracelets prompted at least two boys to try to touch girls inappropriately.
The suspension of the two young girls brought the school to court to fight claiming that the bracelets are to raise awareness. Both girls say that they each know someone who was affected by breast cancer and since they got the bracelet, they have been doing more research on the disease.
I personally feel that the school is in hot water, because by banning the bracelets they are banning an educational aspect of young people, which is what the company aims to do. Not many people can look at the bracelets and not wonder what they mean or stand for. As for the bracelets enticing young boys to touch girls inappropriately I think are just using it as an excuse.
SPC313 TLCs Newest Show
Coming home was aired last night featuring feel good stories about soldiers and their families being reunited after being over seas in the war. Commercials show parents of children being disguised in a big box waiting to be unwrapped by their children to surprise them.
A very cute show and a good way to show the excitement of the homecoming, but also aired on the show they dedicated the opener to a fallen soldier and his family, who was presented with a victory flag in his honor. A very private ceremony was aired to the world last night and I would like to know if airing a families privacy, in this case, the mourning of their son is going to far for television?
I feel that death is something that should be kept private, not show cased around the world. This mans death, although a powerful memory and a good story of courage and honor is still a families troubling times trying to adjust to the great loss of loosing someone that is so dear to them.
SPC313 Sister Wives
TLCs Sister Wives aired their second season tonight at 8PM where it was shown that a federal investigation is being started on the family.
Sister Wives is a show following a family and their story about living in a Polygamist life style. It follows husband Kody, wives Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn and their 16 children.
On the first season, it was talked about how love should be multiplied, not divided and that having sister wives, you don’t only have a husband but you have support of multiple people who raise your children with the same morals as you have, the children grow up with multiple adult influences and a range of siblings.
On the season opener tonight, the network asked the family if they knew the outcome that could happen, would they do this life again? The quote that I remember is the newest wife Robyn said “I would, because I don’t want my children and grandchildren to feel oppressed” The family started the show, to set out the truth about polygamist lifestyles.
In Utah bigamy is a felony and with video evidence both Kody and the wives could go to jail up to 5 years and pay a $5,000 fine not to mention possibly loosing their children. What I would like to know, if there is no evidence of child abuse, should the family be charged for living a lifestyle full of love and support?
Two and a half men cancled.
CBS canceled the rest of season 8 becasue of Charlie Sheens’ recent behavior. It has been nothing new that Sheen has had a history with alcohol, sex and drugs. The actor has been strugaling with these things longer than many can remember.
CBS claims to have cancled the rest of the show “based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition.” The condition being his recent addictions stated above.
What astounds me is that, his character on Two and a half men named Charlie Harper who over indulges with alcohol and is known as a ladies man who is with a different woman every night and who is a role model for his nephew Jake.
Basically, Sheen’s character is everything that he is. Why is it OK for the writers and CBS to continuously write this character into their hit sitcom, but is not OK to employ a man who fits these specific qualities.
Granted, Sheen’s behavior is not ideal, but if I Can remember correctly, he has always had a problem with indulging and CBS hired him under those circumstances and so far his performance has not faltered.
Just a little too much
I took my beloved suburban, whom I named Bertha into Midas in Edwardsville this weekend and the total bill was $94.00… that’s not exactly my problem, my problem is labor was the $94 to take apart one part and re attach a hose for my window washer fluid. Fantastic. 20 minuets of work, made almost $100.
Not only was it a little more expensive then I thought it took me about 2 hours to get done with the whole process when I made a specific appointment
After I took the car and started driving to Collinsville, there was a hole somewhere attached to my antifreeze so not only was that all over the engine, but Bertha started over heating and smoking. We made it about 5 miles down the road and ended up pulling into Orchard Shell in Collinsvile. Where they found a wrench where Midas was working before, might not be theirs but it would be kind of hard to miss.
They ordered a part, refilled my anti freeze and got it done in about 20 minuets for $64, including labor. These guys were amazing, they walked through what was going on and I could see where my money was going and I am so happy that I found these guys.
Midas was disappointing and expensive. Orchard was friendly, helpful, inexpensive. I definitely suggest looking these guys up and passing Midas entirely.
SPC 313- Locking your doors won’t save you from this bank
The nations second largest bank, JP Morgan violated the Service members Civil Relief Act (SCRA) which was made to protect soldiers and their families from financial stress while the soldier is over deployed. Under the act, active-duty troops generally get their mortgage interest rates lowered to 6 percent and are protected from foreclosure to make the burden of having their loved ones gone easier on the families.
JP Morgan admitted that it wrongfully foreclosed on more than dozen military members, kicking families of service men and women out of their homes. The company claims that is will be refunding around 2 million dollars to families and they will also be getting their homes back. The company claims that the “mistakes were inadvertent, not malicious.” However, the refund to the families were only brought on my the lawsuit of Marine Capt. Jonathan Rowles, and his wife Julie. Capt. Rowles told NBC that his morgage rate was supposed to be lowered when he was deployed except it was actually rising and over charging the family $900.
Taking advantage of military families are bad enough, but calling and threatening them to take their houses because of their own mistake is disgusting. The fact that they did not look into refunding any family until the Rowles took them to court and brought light on the situation of thier taking advantage of soldiers. This company is in trouble and need to work hard to make them ok in the public’s eye again.
